Dan is on a boat!

We made it! But it has been an adventure!

The day we arrived at the boat in Athens, we were told to stay in customs, that we were not allowed to board. Another in a series of delays, we were annoyed but at least we were at the boat.

Then the military showed up.

Turns out a stowaway had snuck on board. And they had to sweep the ship and drag him off before we were allowed to board.

So after two days of travel, being stranded in Frankfurt, and witnessing a Greek terrorist response squad drag a stowaway off a boat, we made it onto our ship, and we slept.

THE NEXT DAY! Was pretty chill. We visited the island of Crete. We saw the ruins at Heraklion, the oldest European civilization. Then we came back to the boat, got a deep tissue massage that changed my life, and had dinner.

YESTERDAY! We went to Rhodes Island, and had an amazing tour of Old City Rhodes, which is the oldest living city I Europe. It was pretty wild seeing people going about their daily lives living in a literal 14th century castle.

from there we made our way to the ruins of the Acropolis of Lindos, which was a stunning temple dedicated to Athena. And it only took a mere 300 steps up ancient stairs to reach the top.

And that brings us to TODAY!

When we were meant to be making port in Ephesus, Turkey. But instead I woke up in the middle of the night to thunder and lightning, and angry seas in the morning.

They say we can look forward to eleven foot crests by the evening. So we’ll be spending the next two nights in the Aegean. Which is too bad, I would have liked to see Troy, but better to be safe. Besides walking around Turkey in a giant thunderstorm probably wouldn’t have been that much fun anyway.

The good news is that I have the “Silver Spirits Package”, and there’s a gin tasting event tonight.
